Dental implants consist of small metal posts that are surgically placed in the jawbone, providing a stable support on which replacement teeth are mounted to replace the root of a lost tooth. Over time, the bone surrounding the implant will generate new tissue and integrate to it. As the implant continues to stabilize over time, a more permanent crown or series of crowns can be attached to the implant.
Patients who wear dentures can also benefit from dental implants. We offer two options that work in conjunction with implants to provide the benefits of dentures.
We also offer implant-supported overdentures for patients who have no teeth but have enough bone in the jaw to support implants.
Patients who have significant tooth loss and have or need dentures but want a fixed option, may consider hybrid or implant-retained fixed complete dentures. These dentures are referred to as “hybrid” because they offer the advantages of both a fixed replacement and a removable denture. Attached by four or more implants, the hybrid denture is connected to the implant with a small screw, providing stability and a more natural feel than traditional removable dentures.
There are many considerations with implants, depending on your preferences and overall oral health. We welcome you to call us and schedule some time to discuss the options we offer and determine which is best for you.
